Refreshing, pristine, fragrant.
A young-ish winery, located in the Okanagan Valley, Lunessence launched in 2014 after taking over a property in Summerland.
The owner's philosophy is hidden also in their name: Lunessence where Luna=Moon + Essence. The essence of the Moon. Moon as an important part of biodynamic farming that they are implementing. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards with a focus on natural wines. According to partner/winemaker Michal Mosney (he and his wife moved to Canada from Slovakia several years ago) they ideally use only native yeast, no, or minimal fining (only bentonite and time), and very light or no filtration at all.
Made from Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this rose is the palest of onion-skin and is wonderfully fragrant. Notes of sweet peaches and raspberries are woven with violets, vanilla, spice and pristine citrus. The palate is off-dry and refreshing; it is juicy and buoyant, honest and precise.
